Class Overview
This workshop trains actors in the art of reading and analyzing dramatic texts as blueprints for performance. Students will learn methods to uncover character objectives, justify action through text-based evidence, and interpret structure, conflict, and theme. Emphasizing a chronological and character-driven approach, the course cultivates critical inquiry, emotional restraint during analysis, and disciplined imaginative engagement. Rooted in classical and contemporary methodologies, this foundational class equips actors to make informed, playable choices that illuminate the playwright’s intention and bring clarity and depth to their performances.
